BlackKnightsOfTruth

The Black Knights of Truth are a semi-monastic military order found around the Inner Sea?.

They worship the Old God? Mortan?, through his avatar Ukarlar?. They are an austere order, who believe in preparing themselves for their service to Mortan? in the afterlife by devoting themselves to military prowess. They are renowned all around the Inner Sea? as the most excellent swordsmen that can be found.

Unlike most of the Soltaran military orders, the Black Knights Of Truth accept both men and women amongst their ranks. Joining as a novice requires the payment of 100 crowns or goods to that value. The novice then renounces all worldly goods and joins the order. Life for a novice is an endless round of weapons drill and exercise until they reach at least 30% in one-handed sword attack, one-handed sword parry and dodge. Initiates wear white as a sign of their innocence. They may then seek to become Brothers.

Brothers are equipped by the order with black robes and armour that characterise the order. They swear devotion to their god and obedience to their master of the order and of their commandery. They pledge to always tell the truth, to never act dishonourably or take advantage of an opponent. They are given a sword that is the focus of their vows. This is their most treasured possession and they will never part from it. If they should break their vows, then their sword and every other sword will break in their hand. At their initiation, they may also be given gifts by the god, if he feels that they are weak and need help. Alternatively if he feels that they are worthy and strong, he may reward them with extra vows, so that they can more powerfully show their devotion to their god.

Once they have reached 90% in 5 skills, at least 2 of which must be one-handed sword attack and one-handed sword parry, they may become Masters of the Order. Masters of the Order may use no other weapon than a sword or a dagger at any time. They gain an allied spirit from the god, and receive divine intervention on a d10 rather than d100. They always resist spells at their full POW. They may also divide their attacks between two or more opponents.
