LandOfBalazar

The land of Balazr was once called Votankiland after the ancestor spirit Votank, and the people, the Votanki? who are descended from him. It is now more usually referred to as Balazar after Balazar the Hero, who founded the Citadels of Balazar? and transformed the society of the area.

Bear Hills

Dangerground

The plains between the Elf Sea, Rodi's Gap, the Seronde River and the Bear Woods. Dangerous because of the trolls, elves and dwarves.

Dwerrow River

The largest river in Balazar, it flows from the Rockwoods to the Elf sea, dividing Balazar into two parts. It is joined by the Bilini and Kentals Rivers. It is crossed by the Highbridge. It starts in the Valley of Hammers.

Elmwood

Forest between the Elf Sea and the Dog Hills, near Elkoi. This is an open forest with many clearings, rich in plants for gathering but poorer in game, due to open-hunting.

Firepoint

The furthest point of Balazar into the Dangerground, it is a natural flame that marks the place where Hearthmother? showed the Votanki? the gift of fire.

Gak's Lookout

A peak in the Rockwoods, names after an ancient troll hero.

Greatway

A great dwarf city the is rumoured to stand beneath a mountain in the Rockwoods. None have been there but the mountain, also called Greatway is visible from Balazar.

Highbridge

A dwarf-wrought stone arch that crosses the Dwerrow river and connects the two parts of Balazar. It is 5 metres wide and fifty long and any that try to control it are cursed.

Highwood

The wood that rises up the foothills of the Rockwoods, beyond the Bilini river.

Ilfagor

One of the Three Little Giants in the Rockwoods.

Kintals River

Another tributary of the Dwerrow, this flows along the edge of the Sotwood. It is a treacherous and rocky river with many rapids.

Lookhill

The highest point in the part of the Balazar plains between the Dog Hills and the Rockwoods. On the sunrise side the land slopes towards the Dwerrow River, on the sunset side the land slopes down into Holay and Tarsh.

Morande River

Noted for the voracity of its wildlife.

Oakwood

The forest between Highbridge and the Elf Sea, good territory for gathering and also known for its colourful birds.

Old Rope Bridge

A rope bridge made by giants and on a giant scale, its has survived since before any can remember.

Ormfang

The last peak of the Rockwoods before Dragon Pass, named after a snow dragon that is said to live there.

Pebbleford

A shallow ford over a river somewhere

Rapidwater

Rodi's Gap

The gap between the Bear Hills? and the Brother Hills? which links Balazar to Dangerground.

Ronswood

The forest that separates Dangerground from the Elf Sea and climbs the slopes of the Brother Hills.

Selkhow's Hills

The wooded hills the separate Elmwood from Garstang and Imther, now part of the Kingdom of Imther.

Soldier Ferry

The furtherst outpost of the Kingdom of Imther, a fort built on the banks of the Wrest River.

Sotwood

The forest that rises from the banks of the Kintals River over the foothills of the Rockwoods between the Valley of the Hammers and Tarsh.

Spit Hills

Small range of hills containing Trilus, separating the Elmwood from the Oakwood.

Summerford

Ford on the Bilini River, always passable in Fire Season but difficult in other seasons.

Tarshford

Ford on the Whitefall River and a fort that marks the edge of the Kingdom of Tarsh.

Three Little Giants

A group of three mountains in the Rockwoods, formed from giants that turned to stone.

Turtle Landing

A wide and calm space on the Dwerrow river where boats are moored.

Vafthangor

One of the Three Little Giants.

Valley of Hammers

The valley of the upper Dwerrow River in the Rockwoods, said to be the entrance to Greatway. It is a place of raw stone, utterly empty of vegetation.

Wrest River

A river starting in the Imther Mountains that divides Balazar from the Kingdom of Imther.

Wyrms High Pass

A high and dangerous pass leading from Balazar into Dagori Inkarth and Dragon Pass.
