CultOfYelmalio

Yelmalio? is one of the sons of Yelm?, the sun. In Peloria? he is the god of the sky (not the air, which separates the earth from the sky), worshipped by the hill tribes. Balazar the Hero brought his worship into the Elder Wilds, so his is chief of the New Religions of the Land Of Balazar.

His worship in Balazar is very far from the militant worship he has in the Sun Domes of Peloria? and Sartar?. Here he is the god of the citadel elite. In most of Peloria, Yelmalio was originally an upland sun god, although nowadays his cult is more famous for the Sun Domes? and the Sun Dome Templars?, mercenary warriors without compare.

In the Land Of Balazar however, Yelmalio was introduced by Balazar The Hero, who became the first and only King of Balazar. As a result it has become a royal cult, more like that of Yelm. Given the nature of Balazar however, it has also kept it military connections - kings in Balazar stay that way for as long as they can fight for it.

Lay Members

The most common lay members of the cult are the soldiers of the citadel guard. To them the cult teaches the skills of Two-handed Spear Attack, Shield Parry.

Initiates

Most members of the royal families and their key advisers and retainers will be initiates of Yelmalio, as will the officers of the citadel guard.

Rune Lords

There are very few Rune Lords of Yelmalio in Balazar - normally this status is only achieved by the most talented and grizzled senior officers of the citadel guard. The citadel king is also a Rune Lord of Yelmalio, albeit in a different royal sub-cult with different restrictions and conditions. Current Rune Lords of Yelmalio in Balazar are:

Rune Priests

Each citadel has at least one Rune Priest of Yelmalio and the senior priest in the Citadel Of Elkoi? is the High Priest of Yelmalio in Balazar. There are normally several priests in each citadel, who serve as advisers to the kings as well as in their cult function. The current high priest of Yelmalio in Balazar is Takelong Woodheart?.

Sub-cults

The cult of Balazar The Hero is a sub-cult of Yelmalio in Balazar.

Temples

There are three temples of Yelmalio in Balazar, all of the minor. They are at the Citadel Of Elkoi?, the Citadel Of Trilus? and the Citadel Of Dykene?.
