Tech World

Borderland Subsector - Imperial Client System

Tech World was settled by colonists from Neumann? who are looking to recreate the glory that was Neumann before the plague struck. The population of the planet is only recorded as 30 individuals, although this is actually the number of households. Each household is led by a Techpriest and owns extensive estates across the planet that are maintained, cultivated and defended by huge numbers of semi-sentient androids. Androids and robots also run the factories on which the wealth of Tech World depend, leaving the Techpriests free to pursue a life of research and innovation. In order to avoid falling into the trap of declining into a life of luxury, the landholdings are given as rewards for inventions and innovations - a Techpriest who fails to advance the culture of Tech World will be stripped of his holdings and banished. On the other hand, offworlders who demonstrate the right scientific and engineering skills will be awarded small landholdings, and can extend these with a frequent contribution of new ideas and inventions.

Tech World has an excellent starport, almost entirely staffed by androids. The up-port has excellent ship building yards, and the down-port is a technological marvel - a reflextionless black globe that expands and reconfigures itself automatically depending on the number of ships present.

Tech Wold welcomes visitors to the starport and the immediate surroundings - entertainments to satisfy all tastes are provides, and all staffed by androids. For Aslan visitors there are even a number of hunting ranges with impressively realistic prey for pursuing. However, the rest of the planet beyond this point is strictly out of bounds. The inhabitants of Tech World never interact with visitors face to face, preferring to use android intermediaries or telepresence projections. Several Aslan ihatei groups have mistaken Tech World for unoccupied territory in the past, or territory that looked easy to take from its existing owners. Tech World maintains a huge reserve of android warriors and semi-sentient warships ready for immediate deployment, and has proved to be perfectly capable of defending itself.

Tech World has the highest technology level of the Rimward Trojan Reach, alongside Drinax at 14. This is also level with the most advanced world in the Hierate?. Only the Third Imperium? has a higher technological level locally, and Tobia? the subsector capital is the only planet that exceeds Tech World, at 15. The objective of Tech World is to get back to the technological level of Neumann? in its heyday, which as thought to have been 18. It is rumoured that the senior Techpriests of Tech World still have access to some TL 18 items and technology, even if they are unable to replicate them at present. Avoiding the nanobot plague that devastated Neumann is one of the key objectives for Tech World.
