Wildeman is most Imperial travellers' first impression of the Trojan Reach, and it is not impressive. A small, virtually airless rock-ball, there is little reason to leave the well equipped starport. The planet has a surprisingly high population, concentrated in half a dozen or so underground city-states, linked by maglev trains. The city states are proudly independent - on a world like Wildeman any mistake or accident can spell disaster, so people prefer to be responsible for their own actions. The locals are adapted to the low gravity and find off-world adaptation.
Although there is some life of the slime kind in the deep volcanically heated water filled chasms found underground, there is none on the surface. The only surface water on Wildeman is at the ice-caps. The vast bulk of its food requirements are imported from Iilgan?. In return Wildeman exports high-tech (TL 12) devices to neighbouring systems, and charges tolls on usage of the starport and refuelling. The starport is owned by a consortium in which each city state has an equal share.
Because Wildeman survives on food imports, threats to the starport are taken very seriously. It is untouchable neutral ground for all the city states. The city states also have very similar law levels, especially around the ownership of any kind of weapon that would be powerful enough to puncture a vacuum shell.

Trade Routes
Wildeman is the stepping off point for the major trade route to the Aslan Hierate?. Some traders may also use this for a longer loop on the more Coreward routes, because of its better facilities than Iilgan?.
